If you're ready to stop faking the funk and take your business onward and upward, this show is for you. And now here's Mr. Biz Ken Wentworth. All right. Welcome

To another episode of Mr. Biz Radio with me, Mr. Biz, Ken Wentworth. And you guys have heard me talk a lot in the past about how the power of video and how massively massively grew my business. Back when I did a hundred live streams over a five month period, I did 20 a month and it just absolutely exploded our social media exploded the business and a bunch of different ways. And so, you know, we never really talked specifically about live streaming. And so what I wanted to do was, you know, kind of having a show where we focused on that. And so again, we, we don't just pull anyone out of the woods on this stuff, right? So I went out and found the master of live streaming a guy who has done over 3000 live streams. Yes. Do the math on that, right? Think about it. If you did one live stream a day, 365 days, it would take you, what about eight years to do 3000? Yeah, he's done over 3000 live streams. So he is also the author of Walls of Wisdom. So without further ado, welcome to the show Mr. Ken Walls.

Hey, thank you for having me. I'm I'm very grateful to be here, Ken. Yeah,

Yeah, no, I appreciate you coming on. So Ken and I have known each other, actually, we, I was telling Producer Allen around and we've never even met in person yet. We don't live far away from each other either, which is absolute SHAM. Yeah. I was on one of Ken's live streams, like a gosh, a good while ago. Maybe even, maybe it's been a year ago. I can't even remember when it was, but, and then, you know, recently we kind of reconnected again in some clubhouse rooms. And so I'm like, gosh, you know, you've never been on the show. You got to come on and talk about live streaming. So, so here we are. So I should mention as well, Ken is the CEO of client solution innovations. You can find out more about them at www.clientsi.com, or you can find out a bunch of other things that Ken's doing at KenWalls.com, including on topic for today. If you go to KenWalls.com , you can get a free copy. You can download a free copy of his a 100 live stream secrets. So I definitely highly recommend that you're going to get a full dose of it though, during the show today. So it can tell us gosh, and I know, you know, we try to cover this in the first segment alone. I know you could probably do this for about a day and a half, but tell us about your entrepreneurial journey.

Well it started about seven years old growing, growing up in Indian Lake. I I'm man, I would go door to door and sell lawn mowing services or snow shoveling surfaces in the winter. And I think it's, that's where it all started, man. I, I just, I wanted to, I wanted, I wanted money. I wanted to make my own money. And so I just went out and figured out how to make my own money and I've always been like that. So and then around 20, 21 years old, I started my first business and it failed and, you know, I had some ups it succeeded and then failed. And I had some ups and downs in life. You know, I'm very open about this. You know, I'm a recovered alcoholic, so I'm at 34 years old is when I finally got, got, got done with all of that nonsense and and started putting my life together. But prior to that, I, I had, you know, I had, I've always owned a business of some kind. And even though I had moments of working for other companies, I still always had something going on, you know, so yeah, that's kinda, that's kinda where it all started for me.

Yeah. And so you know, as I mentioned, he's the author of, of a few different things, but specifically Walls of Wisdom where and I have my own copy and I've read it and, you know, you kind of go into, you're very vulnerable in the book go into a lot of detail about some of those trials and tribulations you had. And even specifically some of the things, you know, like set around your, your battles with alcohol, et cetera. Yeah. So what, what, what has led you to, you know, w what would you to the library? What, what got you into that whole, you know, Hey man, this is a good idea. I think I'm gonna really become good at this.

You know, back in 2014, I had a an office with a bunch of employees and, and I, I was, I hired a new kid that had no sales experience. So I I'm like, I don't have time to train this guy. I start looking on YouTube for sales training. I thought I'd find some Zig Ziglar stuff, or Brian Tracy or something. I come across Grant Cardone and end up calling there, long story short. I signed a big contract with Grant’ssales guy to have his sales training for everybody in my company. And, and somebody said, Hey, Grants do Grant Cardone's doing these live streams on this, this app called Periscope. Well, Periscope wasn't available on my phone. Cause I had an Android still. I had 18 Androids in fact, and, and I'm like, you know what, I'll go get an iPhone just so I can see what this dude's talking about.

So I go get an iPhone and then ended up converting everything to Apple. After I found out it was better than what I was using. And but I that's where it all started. I started back then. I'm like, all right, I'm going to go live. I'm good. And I was terrified, terrified out of my mind. And I remember I had my employees all in the conference room, like, all right, I'm going to go live. And they're like, and I was expecting applause from them. And they were looking at me like, dude, you're weird. Just do it then. You know? And so I did. And, and you know what, that first year I was going live probably four or five times a day on Periscope. And I just saw how, how powerful it was. It was really starting to get attention. I started picking up clients all over the world.

We, you know, we own a web development and marketing firm, and I've done that for 26 plus years now. And, and so I'm like, this is amazing. I can just go live and start giving away free tips and advice on marketing and websites and, and life in general. And, and people end up reaching out to me wanting more help. And, and it was, it was amazing. Grant Cardone was right. He said, this, this is a medium that if you're not using it, you're, you're, you're, you're going to get run over by the people that are. And so I'm like, well, that ain't happening. So I started going live like a lot, like a maniac. I think I did over 800 lives in the first year. Oh, geez.

Yeah. That's crazy.

Yes, it is.

So when I sort of got the bug myself I, I committed to, and you're gonna laugh if you heard me, I committed to a hundred over a five month period. So I'm like, I'll do 20 a month. And they're all, you know, they're all generally like four to six minutes around five minutes each, something like that. But I wanted to sort of get myself disciplined enough to do them on a regular basis. And but man, like, like I mentioned, it that the power of doing those 100, even over a five month period, let alone, you know, you do a hundred in a month or less, but nonetheless yeah.

Yeah. Well, I mean, and, and that's the thing is, you know, I teach this stuff now, but I, I, you know, I have an Academy teaching this stuff, but I, I, you know, I always recommend you go live for a minimum of 20 minutes and, and everybody's like, what 20 minutes? What am I going to talk about? And I'm like, you will trust me. People will be there. They'll ask questions. And, and you know, so yeah, it's, it's, it's a journey, man. It's a journey. Yeah.

Well, I mean the time commitment, like you said, if you're, you're talking 20 minutes, plus, you know, and depending when you get rolling, you might be going for an hour. Yeah. You know, that's a heck of a time commitment. How do you, do you schedule them into your day?

Sometimes, sometimes I just go live. I helped a buddy yesterday who was Phantom of the Opera on Broadway for years. He's a famous actor. I helped him go live several times, pushing his book to number one on Amazon. He hit number one as a result. Nice. Nice.

Well, we're going to take a break guys. We'll come back talking with Ken Walls.

All right, let's get back into Ken Walls, CEO of Client Solution Innovations. So Ken, tell, talk to us a little bit about how I know you do a bunch of different things, but so how is it?

Do you help business owners specifically? Well, I first, the first thing I do is when I, when I talk with a business owner I meet with, with them, cause I do a lot of one-on-one coaching with business owners. I, I I'd find out where they are and where they want to go. And, and, you know, it sounds almost cliche, but you know, if people don't know where they want to take their company or their business, then, then you know, it's kind of a moot point, but you know, I always start with where, where do you want, where do you want to go? What's your vision for this? And, and I always work into the equation. Let's talk about live streaming because I don't, I don't care what kind of a business you own

If you're not doing live streaming consistently and often you're, you're, you're leaving a lot on the table a lot. I mean, I have a buddy of mine is a dentist and I have a lot of friends that are dentists. I don't know why, but I do. And so this one buddy, I'm like, dude, do you could do a live stream, just talking about a live stream show, even if you only did it once a week, which I wouldn't recommend I'd recommend a higher frequency than that. But even once a week, you know, a show as a dentist talking about, you know, the things that are co you know, like gum disease can cause heart attacks. Didn't, you know, a lot of people don't even realize that and, and all the other, other things and nuances and, and, and you can literally become the authority in the industry, in your town or wherever you are, if you just start going live.

I mean, I have people because I've been live so much, I'm almost a household name in some arenas. And, and, you know, I have a show where I've interviewed over 340, I think CEOs and celebrities and entrepreneurs and, and, and all over the world. I mean, I just had John Lee Dumas on my show recently, who's, you know, got the, had the number one podcast platform in the world. So, you know, like it, it, and it's just from frequency from really, really being frequent and pushing hard. So that's the, I talked to them about, you know, increasing their frequency is, is how I help them.

Yeah. And obviously live streaming. Does that, you know yeah. The thing that I found that I'm sure you, you would concur with, is it really, what better way to break through those know, like, and trust barriers then via video, right? Some guy in, you know, Boise, Idaho that doesn't know Mr. Biz from a hole in a wall, you can, you can get a pretty good idea of who the heck I am, and if I can help you, and if I'm your type of person that you want to work with by watching, you know, a couple of my videos, you can say this guy's an idiot. I don't want, I think he's right. He's a joker. Or I know this guy can help me. So I think it's just, I do the same thing with my clients. I tell them, like, you got to do videos.

You'll love this one. Can I had a guy, he had a plumbing company and he's like, same thing that you were mentioning before. Like, Oh, I don't, you know, I don't want to, I can't do videos. I'm terrible. I'm like, it, people like authenticity, man, like just dealing with your phone. And he said, well, what videos would I do? I'm a freaking plumber. And I said, Oh, here's a start. What are the top 10 reasons that people call you? Right? There you go. Yeah. There's 10 videos right there. Like, you know, I said, someone, you know, someone doesn't know how to light their pilot light, right? Like how the heck did, so do a video on how to light a pilot light. You know, someone might have to light a pilot light, you know, three times in their whole life. And they want to make sure they don't blow their house up. So and, and they might still not be calm. They might watch your video and not be comfortable. Guess who they're going to call to like their pilot light forum. You,

Yeah. It's, it's it's top of mine. I mean, here's, here's what I, I ask anybody I'm talking to about this. I say, look, if ABC NBC, CBS, and Fox all called you and said, Hey, we got together. And we've decided that we're going to give you the ability to advertise for free 24 hours a day. Anytime you want, just run your video ads on our networks, anytime, for as long as you want, would you tell them no? And the answer is always, no, I would never tell them no yet Facebook, just Facebook. We're not even going to talk about the other platforms. Facebook alone is the 8,000 pound gorilla. They are, that's 10 times bigger, at least than, than all of those networks combined. And people aren't utilizing it. They're not using it. They're not, and it's, it's free to use. It's free. Like you can go live on these platforms anytime you want and people don't use them. It blows my mind.

Yeah. I agree. I agree. Look I know you're, I think you're familiar with Frank Kern and that he's the one that got me sort of started on it back in 19 of, of going, doing live streaming specifically on Facebook. And then actually thanks to you. I use stream yard now not to drop any names or whatever, but I use stream yards to be able to, cause what I was doing is I was doing live streams on Facebook and then I would download the video, re upload the YouTube, load it to LinkedIn, et cetera, et cetera. It was stream yard, obviously cuts all that out and makes it so much simpler. But yeah, it's, you know, he, Frank Kern gave the example of, you know, what's a, what's a Superbowl ad cost, right? A 30-second ad and right along the lines of what you're saying, Ken.

And so you can do a video that's, you know, whatever, however long you want, it's going to be more than 30 seconds, more than likely, and have not just some random, you know, 12 year old kid, watch it, you know, like a billboard or even as a TV commercial, you have no idea who the heck is watching it. You can have it, it's targeted, right? If it's your business page is people who follow you. So they're already interested in you, it's people in your target audience. So it's not, again, not just random people. It's just, Oh my gosh. So powerful.

Well, and, and the other thing is this is, you know, if, if I'm doing a BA, whether I'm on a business page or I'm, I'm doing it on my personal page or YouTube or wherever, you know, if, if, if I'm doing a live stream and you're on there and you find the content valuable, and you've got 5,000 friends on Facebook and you're like, this is great. People need to see this. And they, and you share it out. Well, guess what? I just got opened up to 5,000 people that may not even know, or they don't know who I am. So, you know, it comes down to the old saying is, you know, it's it's, it's not what, you know, it's who, you know, and that's not true. It's who knows you. And, and the more that you get your name out there, and I, and back to the, and I want to go back to something you said a second ago, Jeffrey Gitomer who wrote the number one best-selling sales book on planet earth called the little red book of selling reached out to me and asked me to write a chapter in his, his newest book called go live.

And I taught him how to go live. And, and I, so I'm, I'm now in a book with a four times New York times bestselling author. And one thing that I say in there is a lot of people would rather record a video and have it professionally edited than to do a live video. And that's fine to do once in a while. However, you lose the authenticity factor and that's what people want. And you just said that, and I agree a thousand.

Yeah, absolutely. Agree with you again this week, we're talking with Mr. Ken Walls. You're going to come back after the break and he's going to tell us and teach us how to live, stream your way to success.

All right. So we all been waiting for this. Ken is tease this with some nuggets here and there, but I can give us, and again, go out to Kenwalls.com  and you can download a free copy of his book, a Livestream Secrets. Tell us, give us some tips. What are some things that people get wrong with live streaming? What are some things that you say, gosh, you have to make sure you do this. What are w give us some tips on that?

One big thing that people do, and this drives me crazy. I wa I watch other people's live streams just so I can use use it as, as training material in my, my Grow Live Academy is, you know, one big thing that people do is they make it all about them and they don't engage with their audience. Their audience will come on and they'll say, Oh, Hey, how are you doing? And, you know, it would be, I liken it to this, if you and I are walking down the street and we pass each other and you're like, Oh, Hey, Ken. And I look at you and I just nod. And I keep on walking. And then later, cause a lot of people go, wow. I go back to the comments later and I replied to them there. And, and instead of doing it, when I'm live, I don't want to be distracted and lose track of what I'm talking about. I'm like, okay, first off, if the scenario of we walk past each other, you say, hi, and I just kinda smile at you and keep on walking. And then later I texted you, Hey dude, it was so good to see you today on the street. When, when you said, hi, you're going to go. That dude is a whack job. Why w why, w why didn't you just

Say hi when we were lying around on

The street, like weirdo. So, you know, and, and I see that, and here's the thing, and I get it. I understand the being nervous part. I get that, but here's the thing, like, you gotta make it a natural conversation. You've, you've gotta, when you're live, people have to, people buy from companies because they know like, and trust you. I don't care if I was the CEO of Coca Cola. And I wanted to, to bolster my brand, well, then guess what I'm going to do. I'm going to do live streams, walking through the bottle, bottling plant, showing people the processes, showing them how cool, how much better our syrup is than the other companies out there, whatever, you know, whatever it is. You've got to show people, the processes, the things that you're doing. If I'm a plumber, like you said, I'm going to show people, look, I'm out on this job where their pipes burst. And here's what they could have done to prevent this and, and, you know, et cetera, et cetera. So there there's, you got it. You got to get yourself out there and you have to interact with the audience. Yeah.

I think that's a huge one. And by the way, the analogy is perfect.

Yeah. I actually thought of that one on my own, but it just makes sense. Right? It's like, well, you're gonna, you're gonna interact with people that are saying hi to you, unless you don't want any friends. Right. You know, so yeah. You have interact with people. So that, that's a, that's a big one there. Yeah. I let me think of a, another one. You know, give a, give away the secret sauce that people are so afraid. Well, if I give that away, my, my competitors will find out, dude, they're gonna find out anyway, like, you know, we live in the, the information is so readily available to all of us. It's, we're, we're we carry around these super computers in our pockets. There's nothing you can't find out now. So like, you know, just get on and talk about your secret sauce.

What makes you different? What makes you better? You know, and I know people in the insurance business that aren't doing live streaming, and I'm like, why do I do a live stream? Is again it's top of mine. It's it's the, it goes back to what Ted Turner said. The old saying is, is early to bed, early to rise, work like a dog and advertise well, if, if you want to advertise and you want to spend thousands of dollars a month on ads that don't work on, on mediums, you know, that are worn out now. Okay. Do that. But you, you have, you have, it literally was social media and live streaming. People can get to know you. They can feel the authenticity. And that, again, I, this is all the stuff that I teach in my grow live Academy.

Yeah. Look, Ken, I'll tell you, it's funny you say that. So I ran into a guy in the airport in Orlando. I was on my way down to Austin, Texas. This was a couple years ago and I was in Orlando airport by myself. It was it the little food court, if any of you been in the airport in a circle there. And so I get my food and I sit down and I notice this guy's kinda kind of creeping me out a little bit. Like, what's this guy doing the next thing. You know, the guy walks over to me and he was like, Hey, Mr. Biz, man, it's so great to see you. And I'm terrible with names, right. Which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. But I looked up at him. I said, Hey, man, it's great to see you as well. I said, man, I really sorry.

I said, but I don't remember your name. And he's like, Oh no, no, don't no worries. He's like, we've never met before, but I follow you on social media and I'll watch all your videos. And then he starts quoting crap from my videos and talking about things like, like in my videos, I always talk about, even on the show here, I talk about Mrs. Biz and the Biz Girls and everything. And he was like, Oh yeah, last week he goes, tell me that behind the scenes, like how was Mrs. Biz about that? You know? Right. And that guy, I I've never met the guy in my life, but he felt like he knew me. And it really struck home with me. You know, someone, I know we were both very fond of, of Grant Cardone. Like I, you know, he was on a show a few weeks ago, but you know, I don't, I, unlike you, I've not sat down with him and shared conversation, broke bread with him and everything. But I feel like I know him because he shares so much on social media. And so it's super powerful. Frank Kern does the same thing and I'm like, I want to have a beer with that guy. Like yeah. You know, you just get to know them. They share so much on social media. It's so powerful.

Yeah. It really is, man. It really is. People don't understand the power of it if they did. I mean, I, you know, my best friend in the world is Glenn Moorshower who played agent Aaron Pierce on the TV show, 24 for seven years, he's was general Moorshower and all the transformer movies he's done over 250 movies and TV shows. And I met him because of social media and live streaming and being an expert in this, this arena. I'm speaking at a big conference in Dallas, in April. And it's all about this with 3000 plus people that are, that will be watching and in the audience live. So, you know, all of this because I went, you know what, I'm going to, I'm going to become obsessed about this. I'm going to become the expert. And I literally own, I think the domain is live streaming king.com or something. Somebody called me that. And I'm like, that's catchy. I think I'll look into it. And the domain was available. Side-By-Side it. But you know, I mean, again, and I do a weekly coaching call for my, my Academy members and, and, and have celebrities come on and, and teach and share and do Q and A's. And man, I, I love, I love this because I'm watching people that I, that are students of mine, I'm watching their, their businesses and their lives just, just blow up. And, and I love it, dude. Yeah,

No, well, I think once you open the eye, people's eyes to it that they see and they start to do it. They see, first of all, they get over the jitters, they get over the nerves. And then they, you know, they see the power of it and they really, it really takes off. I've seen that myself, you know, like I said, I don't do anything like you do, but I tell all my clients, like, you gotta do video. Like, they're like, Oh, what should I do video? You gotta do

Video and live video.

Yeah. Someone was asking me that they're like, you do all these videos. I'm like, all of them are lie. Like they said, who produces your videos? I'm like nobody I do them all live. So again, this week we've been talking with Ken walls, go to Kenwalls.com. So you can download a free copy of his book, 100 Livestreams Secrets can, it has been absolutely amazing having you on the show. I really appreciate you being here.

Thank you, man. I I've enjoyed being here. Yeah. And they can go to www.100livestreamsecrets.com as well and download that for free. And that is actually in Jeffrey Gitomer his new book. That's, that's how good the ebook is. Cool. Cool.

Well, thanks for listening guys. Thanks for our show sponsor. Porter Capital. Have a great week and don't forget as always cash flow is King.
